Crafting, tools and blueprints

Quick answer

You can only craft what a blueprint has unlocked. Crafting sites with something new show a small '!' above them, and every first-time craft pays XP. Pickaxes, axes, the scythe and the Leaf Blower are the working tools.

Crafting is how you turn the resources you gather into tools, furniture, decorations and outfits. The gate on all of it is the blueprint: you cannot make what you have not unlocked, and the game shows you where new blueprints are waiting with a small "!" marker above the crafting site.

How blueprints work

The in-game explanation of blueprints is short, and it covers the whole unlock economy:

  • Blueprints let you buy or craft new items — seeds, tools and decorations are the examples the game gives.
  • Every first-time craft pays XP, so filling gaps in your catalogue is progression, not just tidying.
  • Crafting sites that have something new available show an "!" icon above them.

Practical consequence: when you are short of something, the answer is almost always to find the site with the marker rather than to grind more materials for it.

The tools you will actually use

ToolUsed for
PickaxeBreaking stones blocking roads; temple work
AxeChopping and tool work around the village
ScytheCutting weeds and overgrowth during cleanup
Leaf BlowerClearing leaves — added for the reconstruction system

Pickaxes and axes were rebalanced for damage and stamina during the demo's hotfix run, so stamina budgeting shifted with that patch.

Crafting puzzles

Decorations are not simply bought. Early Access added crafting puzzles for decorations — small assembly tasks that stand between you and a finished item. They are part of the launch feature list, and they are also how the game paces decoration unlocks, which is worth knowing if you assumed a big furniture shop was waiting in the village.

The workbench warning

The single most expensive crafting mistake in the game is not a material cost. The developers listed a known issue while the demo was live: players could delete their workbench in build mode and lose it permanently. Move your bench rather than deleting it, and if you have already lost one, report it through the official channels rather than restarting a save on the assumption that it is intended.

Character customisation

Crafting also feeds how you look. The store page describes an expanding collection of recipes that covers tools, decorations, outfits and hairstyles, and Early Access added further customisation options on top. Mixing and matching gear is presented as its own form of play, which makes the clothing recipes worth taking seriously rather than treating them as cosmetics.

Build mode and decorating covers what happens after you craft the furniture, and farming, fishing and cooking covers where the raw materials come from.
